Wheat Belt Lightning and Storm Photos
The lightning in photos below was produced by further storms which formed later the same night as the storm on Page 1. After that storm moved away to the SE we drove back to Kellerberrin to find another line of storms developing north of the town. I took the first four lightning photos below as the storms moved through east of Kellerberrin. I took the last two north of Corrigin as the last storm of the night dissipated ending the chase.
This was a picturesque thunderstorm which formed north of Northam on Sunday 9th February 2003 and moved through just east of the town right on sunset. Although the storm was very active lightning photography was difficult as the setting sun illuminating the storm made long exposures impossible. The first photo below is the result of quick reflexes, while the other three, taken at dusk, are the result of longer exposures. After it moved through we chased the storm down to York where we witnessed some extremely close strikes as the storm dissipated over the town.
