West Coast Lightning and Storm Images

The lightning storm in images below, which formed near Mogumber on Thursday 21st November 2002, was a particularly interesting one to chase as it actually split in two. The left mover, pictured in first image below, moved over the escarpment producing nothing more than rain and lightning. The right mover became severe and produced golf ball sized hail in the vicinity of Gingin. The third image below shows the widening gap between the two storms as they split, while subsequent images show the main rain free base with hails shafts. The lightning images illustrate the nice lightning show that the storm produced.

I took the following photos at the end of an eventful but frustrating day in December 2002 when some extremely lightning active storms moved through Perth during the day, but died off just before sunset. A weak storm formed near Guilderton around midnight, but was unfortunately very short lived. By the time we caught the storm it was already dissipating, allowing me to catch only these crawlers.
